Reverend Ethan Cole, Rector —
“We were so blessed to follow the Purple Hands Project in March as an intergenerational program. The scourge of violence in our culture takes deep roots in people’s minds and souls and it can start by the negative words and actions that we use to communicate and interact with ourselves and others. The Purple Hands Project leads children and adults to understand that their words have power to harm and to heal. The pledge helps those who take it have a sense of responsibility and personal agency in the use of their own power. We believe that the teachings of Jesus show us a way of life that is grounded in peace and peacemaking. The Purple Hands Project helped us teach our children and deepen our own learning about “the peace that the world cannot give” (John 14:27). The crafts and other materials are wonderful and age-appropriate. We all enjoyed making handprints for our banner. The connection between my own hands and my promise to not use my hands or words for hurting is beautifully made with this project. We will continue to implement this work at St Bart’s.”

“Thank you, Father Ethan! I am truly honored and blessed to have this amazing opportunity to share good news, and thank you for your help in teaching and nurturing the Purple Hands Pledge® here within your church family. Thank you for your shared vision of creating a safer, kinder community and world one Purple Hands Pledge® at a time.” – Ann S. Kelly, Founder/Director
