Crece Bilingual School — Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico

Excerpt from Crece Bilingual School’s BlogEvery year, we invite you to celebrate February 14 by making a commitment against violence. It is a campaign that was born in 1997 in Oregon, USA, and that for 12 years we have carried out with the support of our students, their families, and the community... At the end of each campaign (from February 13 to 17) we will gather our hands to make an offering in a public place.”

Crece Bilingual School proudly presents their 2020 community outreach video:

Participation has grown over the years and the number of community partners has expanded to include:

Local media
Police officers
Firefighters
Local Business Owners & More!

In 2000 Crece Bilingual School in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico began a partnership with the Hands & Words Are Not For Hurting Project®.

Annual events take place in February, to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The local TV station covered a 2011 Purple Hands Pledge® community event that was a tremendous success!

Children, parents, teachers, and community members take the Purple Hands Pledge® at school and community events.

An average of 1,500 Purple Hands Pledges are taken each year!

“AMAZING!! The number of Hands that made the commitment was: UNCOUNTABLE…

Thank you all for supporting our children and for committing yourself against violence! Each child gathered more than 10 hands and ended up with the purple hands in Puerto Peñasco. It is admirable what a group of hands can do to spread the commitment to peace.

IT WAS AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE OF EVERYONE! THANK YOU!”
